Aghasi Aghasyan and Aghvan Melikyan have earned the 4th and 5th medals for Team Armenia at the European Junior Weightlifting Championships in Durres, Albania. Armenia has one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals at this point, ranking among the top teams in the competition.

Of the eleven weightlifters (8 men, 3 women,) Team Armenia has 6 medals and has a very good shot at earning more as Sevak Sahakyan and Ruben Aleksanyan will be in action tomorrow. The three Armenian weightlifters performed exceptionally well, as Heghine Yepremyan won the silver medal, Liana Manukyan won the bronze, and Anna Govelyan's failed attempts would have put her in strong medal contention had she been able to successful lift one of her attempts.

On the men's side, Arakel Mirozyan won the Gold in the 69kg category, supplemented by the two bronze medals that we won today by Aghasi Aghasyan and Aghvan Melikyan. Aram Andrikyan came up just 1kg short of matching Aghvan Melikyan's lifts, and placed in the 4th. The other two men that have already competed were Rubik Mamoyan and Zorik Poghosyan in the 62kg category, and they were both slightly out of medal contention finishing in 5th and 8th places respectively.

Team Armenia's hopes of getting to the top of the board lies on the shoulders of Sevak Sahakyan and Ruben Aleksanyan tomorrow, in the 105kg and 105+kg categories to close out the tournament. STAY TUNED FOR RESULTS.
